Fulani Herdsmen In Police Uniform Clash With Police In Delta, Area commander Injured

Fulani Herdsmen dressed in police uniform armed with Ak 47 riffles and other dangerous weapons engaged a team ofpolicemen  in a gun battle yesterday, in Delta state leaving many policemen injured, including an area commander, while some are still missing.

However, the Delta state police commisoner Mr Zanna Ibrahim had said
no one was injured.

"What happened was that the policemen were fatigued, they entered a terrain they were not used to and some of them collapsed out of fatigue.

He said none was injured but he admitted the Area commander who led the team and one other person were exhausted.

According to a source, a team of policemen had stormed a community, orhoho and it's environs in Ughelli north local government area of the state.

The move was due to incessant reports of rape and killings by herdsmen, who take cover in the bush.

But as soon as the policemen arrived, the herdsmen opened fire on them.

A source who claimed anonymity said police officers were ambushed by the herdsmen as they were approaching the community, as they opened fire on them.
